Our Specialties

School Refusal

School refusal, school therapy, school issues

Our clinicians specialize in assisting children, teens, and young adults who face challenges attending school due to mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, social difficulties, and self-esteem concerns. We collaborate closely with students, families, and schools to craft personalized plans that support their return to the classroom. Recognizing that many students have a strong desire to learn but are hindered by mental health barriers, we specialize in therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing these challenges. Through therapy, we help students develop essential coping skills and strategies tailored to their specific needs. Our goal is to empower them to apply these skills effectively in the school environment, enabling them to overcome obstacles and participate fully in their educational journey. Proficient in navigating 504 and IEP plans, we actively participate in advocating for our student's mental health needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support necessary for academic and personal growth.

Our approach includes the following:

  • Student involvement in the therapeutic process

  • Family involvement and parent coaching

  • Working collaboratively with the school administration, social workers, and case managers when relevant

  • Psychoeducation

  • Reviewing IEP plans and attending meetings as needed/requested

Neurodiversity

Our clinicians are well-versed in neurodiversity, understanding that there is no singular "correct" way for a brain to function. We celebrate the unique ways individuals process the world. Whether diagnosed or suspecting they are neurodivergent, we specialize in helping clients develop crucial skills that may pose challenges, such as communication, navigating social complexities, job retention, executive functioning, and organization. We have extensive experience supporting individuals across various neurodivergent diagnoses, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 1 and Level 2), OCD, and Learning Disabilities. In therapy, we collaborate with clients to practice and enhance these skills, empowering them to thrive in their daily lives.

For those without a formal diagnosis, we assist in understanding and managing symptoms, and if desired, we facilitate access to neuropsychological testing. Our goal is to provide personalized support that fosters independence, confidence, and success in both personal and professional spheres.

Our approach includes the following:

  • Assessing and understanding presenting symptoms

  • Practicing skills in session and in the community when applicable

  • Processing thoughts and emotions regarding symptoms

  • Providing referrals for neuropsychological testing if desired

  • Processing the neuropsychological testing results

Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders, Trauma

With compassion, expertise, and ongoing education, our clinicians specialize in helping individuals, including adolescents and adults, navigate challenges related to eating and body image. We adopt a comprehensive approach, working closely with both the individual and, where relevant, their family to uncover underlying thoughts, emotions, and experiences contributing to their struggles. Eating disorders can arise from various factors such as trauma, loss of a sense of control, experiences of assault, bullying, and societal pressures. Beyond addressing immediate eating concerns, we delve into the root causes of these issues, providing support to process and heal. Our goal is to collaborate with clients in achieving wellness, fostering both physical health and mental well-being.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your child, our team is dedicated to guiding you toward your wellness goals and promoting a healthier, balanced life.

  • Assessing and understanding presenting symptoms

  • Exploring underlying factors related to disordered eating

  • Processing thoughts and emotions regarding symptoms

  • Involving family if necessary

  • Psychoeducation to client and family

  • Collaborating with other professionals (dietician, PCP, etc.)
